Take Your Hands Off My Wife

I've told my nurse over a billion times ,"when a Middle Eastern or Indian(Asian) couple comes in for an initial prenatal care exam, please send them to the female nurse practioner".

I can't stand overbearing husbands that remain in the room and watch me like a hawk during the entire exam, waiting for the moment when they perceive I'm gaining some sick sexual thrill from performing a breast and pelvic exam on their wife.

Dude! , It's my fucking job. If I wanted cheap sexual thrills, I would have became the manager of a titty bar!

Venting completed;-)

Speak Up

I need to be more assertive with my senior partners. I typically melt into the background. I trained under most of these guys, therefore at times, it's difficult for me to consider them as my equal.

What's there to see that I haven't seen already.

Many of my co-workers (nurses and ancillary staff) are starting to see me for their gynecological care. The other day one of the nurses I work with exclaimed " I'm never coming to see you. There is no way you're ever looking at my Twat!!"

Come on now.......I likely examine between 20 and 50 vaginas a week. Does she think there's something about her vagina that makes it exceptionally special so I will go out of my way to see it?

*If this is similar to one of my previous post, please forgive me. I guess it's a sore spot for me*

Closing

The closing went well. The sellers were pleasant. I guess his ex-wife was keeping him in line. I sign a million documents. The sellers agent informed me that there were several backup offers on the home. Well at least I know if it doesn't work out, I'll likely be able to unload this house quickly . My realtor informed me she had several individuals she represent that would purchase the house quickly, but she also indicated she would make the asking price almost 100k more that what I purchased it for. So I guess I got a good deal. She hates the word "deal" when home buying is concerned. The seller also expressed an interest in my condo. I think he's livin in an apartment now.

The place is very nice, I was worried about the previous male owner being a smoker, but there was no noticable smoke residue in the home. The hardwood floors are in great condition. My next big projects are replacing the carpet and tearing down some ugly wall paper in the dining room and painting a few designated rooms. I'm gonna go neutral with the paint. The windows have a nice interior wood trim that provides great contrast.

I need my Mommy!!!!

OBTW the big question . The basement is unfinished, should I put a pool table in the living room??????? Or should I turn the living room into the traditional artsy foo foo room that no one ever sits in?

Have I Bit Off Too Much?

I close on my new house tommorrow.

I went on a preliminary walk thru with my realtor. The previous owners were still moving out. No problem for me, my but it really angered my realtor. The current owners are divorcing so the wife was there initially and after she left, the husband arrived to clean out the garage. He seemed to have a very bad attitude towards us and smelled as if he'd been drinking. When my realtor and I pulled up, we were conversing in the car, the owner walks up to the car and knocks on the glass, saying, " If you're gonna do a walk thru, you better just go and do it, cuz I'm not going anywhere anytime soon!" And as we were performing the walk thru, the owner comes inside from the garage and sternly says, " Are you guys almost finished!" I tried to be as polite as possible, my realtor said nothing.

I looked at the house and everything that it will need and have been depressed since. Painting, trimming trees, remodeling the kitchen, pool maintenance, and a shit load of other stuff. It is a huge financial commitment and it's starting to sink in.

I likely won't move in until I sell my condo so it should give me time to get a few things done. I think my condo shows better with furniture.

**I guess at this point my friend jimmy would be telling me "stop acting like a lil bitch...suck it up and take it like a man!!!"**

Conferderate States of America

I saw this Spike Lee movie during the weekend. It takes a very interesting look at American history if the South had won the Civil War with the aid of French and English troops. Some of the notable points were a cable channel called the SSN (Slave Shopping Network), a pact with Nazi Germany during WWII, and the stagnation of american art and culture with the absence of an African American influence and a strict government propaganda driven media.

Aint no baby in dere

I'll have to tell you guys the other sad story next time. The story that Kelly keeps making reference to.

It was a very busy night on labor and delivery. we got a call from the emergency room stating that a patient who was 40 weeks pregnant (full term) was arriving by ambulance in active labor. I sent a 2nd year resident down to the emergency room to evaluate her. 10 minutes later the resident and EMTs are rushing the patient up to the labor and delivery unit's OR because the resident said she felt a foot sticking out the cervix into the vagina. ( term breech deliveries are too dangerous to perform vaginally and ceserean sections are usually required)

We called the anesthesiologist and transported the slightly obese patient to the operating room table. The anesthesia resident was ready to put the patient to sleep. I asked the nurse to check the baby's heart rate with a doppler to make sure it was still alive before we started. The nurse ran the doppler device (hand held device that is use to listen for a pulse) all over the patient belly and started to panic because she couldn't get a heart rate. The residents wanted to start the c-section fearing the baby was in distress and we were wasting time getting a heart rate. I was convinced yet and called for the ultrasound to the room. We scanned her belly for 5 minutes and I couldn't find anything. No heart rate , no baby, nothing. WTF?!?! I grabbed a pair of gloves and checked the patient's cervix. I felt no feet or baby. I just felt a normal closed cervix. The top lip of the cervix was slightly swollen, but otherwise nothing was there. I asked the nurse to perform a urine pregnancy test and it came back NEGATIVE. At the same time on of the night shift nurses came on duty and was amazed when she saw who was laying on the or table. The nurse exclaimed, " That's Ms. ------, she's schizophrenic and comes to the emergency room every other week claiming she's pregnant"

Damn!!!

Would you guys like to know....?

Would you guys care to know about the time I almost performed an emergency ceserean section on a patient that wasn't even pregnant?

Does Race Matter?

I went out with some of my co-workers on friday night. My office medical assistant is leaving to take on a new job and wanted to go out with a bang. We were out til 5am .

I dragged myself home and passed out on my bed. I woke up around 10am on sat threw on some scrub pants, a baseball shirt, my thug cap and dashed to the dry cleaners to drop off a few clothes for same day pickup.

When I got back to my condo, there was a strange car sitting in my driveway. I got out my SUV to see what was going on. There was a caucasian couple in the car who believed they had an appointment to tour my condo. I politely informed them that I had received no previous notice. They called their realtor and he apologized for not contacting my realtor to give me advanced warning. There was another condo in my community they wanted to tour, so I told them to give me 15 minutes to make my place presentable.

So there I am with very little sleep and a hangover, trying to turn a mess into a model home in less than 20 minutes.

I didn't tell my agent yet that I met a potential buyer. She's very old school and believes that the buyer and seller should have no contact with each other until closing. She also believes the buyer should have no idea of the demographics of the seller and vice versa. She doesn't want anyone to be biased because of race, sex etc. My realtor will be very upset when she finds out.

Male Bonding

I'm now beginning to realize that male bonding is something necessary for my emotional and psychological heath (I'm not venturing into homosexuality). Most of my best friends (male) live out of state. All my patients are female, my ancillary staff (nurses..ect) are all female, the residents are 99% female and most of my physician colleagues are female.

It's a fact the men an woman interact differently on a social level and majority of my interactions are with women. I truly miss the time spent with my male friends, where politcal correctness and social graces are thrown out the window. There is a certain amount of brutal honesty in the male circle with disregard an the individuals sensitivities. In the male circle truth supercedes all. Example - if an individual in the male circle has an unattractive girlfriend, his counterparts would have no problem informing him of this fact. They would likely take the opportunity to make fun of him in addition. At the conclusion, everyone would still remain friends.

The reason I started this post is because one of my male partners is insisting I join his men's group and I've been strongly considering it. All my males friend are life long. I've known most of them for nearly 20 and 30 years. There has to be a reason for that.

Too Late Now

I've been thinking alot for the past few days.

Instead of buying a house. I should have just kept my current condo and also purchase a condo in Chicago for the weekends.

I guess it's too late now:-(

36 hours

I went out with a few friends of mine last night after pulling a 36 hour shift at the hospital. It's very strange that all I can think about is going to sleep as my shift is ending but as I press on I get a 2nd powerful boost of energy. Maybe it's delerium or maybe it was the fact that a drug-rep was payin and everything was free.

When people complain about their grueling 8 or 12 hours shifts, I ask them to try working a 36 hour shift. The universal response is, "that's why you make the big bucks"

where are those big bucks?

Interest

I had a showing of my condo yesterday. I also have another showing scheduled today. I hope the interest holds and someone falls in love with it. It's only been on the market a few days, I think (hope) this is a good sign.
