Strange Days

For the past few days I have been keeping some weird freakin hours. I'm napping during the day and staying up most of the night.

It's currently 1am and I just finished consuming up a double steak burger and fries from Steak n' Shake. Now I'm planning on completing my bills before I head out of town.

I started my official vacation 2 days ago and maybe that's the source of my "off" hours. But I'm a 36 yo man and lately I've been keeping the hours of a college student.

Exam Results

The medical school course I was directing of has come to an end. I prepared an exam with and intermediate level of difficulty. I also prepared a very focused review session prior to the exam and it was well received by the students. It was so well received, that I received applause after the review session. I felt that it was an unreasonable amount of material to be tested on and wanted to keep the students as directed as possible with their studying. After all, they had several other exams to study for at the same time.

The Mean score for my exam was 85% and there were a few perfect scores (100%). Unfortunately there were also a couple of failing scores....Bummer :-(

I really had hoped everyone would pass. Such is life.

Do you like it Hard or Soft

Alright, remember, I've been appointed director of this medical school course.

Should I make their exam easy or should I make their exam difficult?

I realize that this is not their only course and I would like to go easy on them. But isn't that unfair to the students who really bust their ass and study hard (the students who would ace the exam because they study harder than others). I feel if I make the exam easy, mediocre student would have an unfair advantage.

Knowledge should be rewarded. Right?

Law Suit Update

Law Suit #A is a hair strand away from being dropped. The plaintiff's attorney no longer has the resources to pursue the case and if the plaintiff cannot find representation before the set deadline, the case will be dropped.

Law Suit #B is still lingering on. Since I was no where near the hospital when the incident in question occurred, I hope that eventually my name will be dropped from that suit.

Time will tell

Teacher

I'm sorry about my absence from blogging. I had a great Thanksgiving. I began the day by delivering meals to the needy and finished up by celebrating with friends.

I've been very busy the past 2 weeks. Earlier this year my chairman appointed me "Course Director" of a medical student class here at the University. The course started this month and has been a challenge to organize. I read last years course evaluations, and the students were less than kind to my predecessors. I'm trying to put as much effort into this course as possible so the students will have a rewarding experience this year.

There's always a certain amount of anxiety when you're in front of a class of over 250 students lecturing. But everything has been going smoothly so far.

I remember almost a decade ago when I was a student and how idiotic I perceived some of our lecturers to be. LOL....I hope the students feel differently about me.

but I guess I have to place their education over my ego.
